I lived in La Paz, Bolivia from the summer of 1992 to the summer of 1994. One of my favorite memories of those two years was our visit to a large artisan craft fair. I have always loved handmade crafts, and I was awed by the variety and quality of the items available! The local Aymara and Quechua people have a history of producing beautiful handmade products, so I was thrilled when I was offered to review the Fair Trade 3 Bags Full Finger Puppet Pouches.

These adorable finger puppets came in the mail and my kids, who are normally puppet types, could not keep their hands off them. And what is so great about them, besides being adorable, portable, creative, compact, versatile and can double as child's purse.

The quality of this set is outstanding! It's sewn beautifully with details not common in similar products. The puppets are little works of art! The bags are fully lined and they include nice details like a zipper closure, and a removable strap.

Quality made, hand-crafted Childrens toys are hard to come across these days. Everything is mass-produced and sold at big name toy stores that even myself have been known to purchase our kids toys from. Which isn’t all bad don’t get me wrong but it can be refreshing having unique and hand made toys too!

We recently found out about a really inventive and fun set of puppets! 3 Bags Full Finger Puppet Pouches are available through Indigenious Crafts from Bolivia and we think their design is really unique and creative. They'll provide hours of open ended play and can be used as a learning tool to incourage early literacy, support oral language development, and inspire imagination and storytelling!

I’m learning to be aware of the products I buy and where my money goes. There’s much injustice when it comes to buying and importing products from developing countries. I’m but one person. I can’t change the world but I can do good where I can.

It's a knitted book bag, with finger puppets that adhere with snaps to the bag. A knitted string lets the child hang it around her neck and take it anywhere.

It's a knitted book bag, with finger puppets that adhere with snaps to the bag. A knitted string lets the child hang it around her neck and take it anywhere.
Each bag has a theme. For instance, the Ocean bag has a handpainted ocean scene, and it comes with a clownfish, a crab, a mermaid, an octopus, a sea turtle, a seal, a shark and a starfish...
I love fair trade crafts! I love that it is a unique item Little Miss can play with that wasn't produced in a factory with cheap parts. Fair trade crafts are handmade by women overseas with care.
I love that it's fair trade because that means these women are getting good money for their handy work! So...fun, unique toy for Little Miss + helping women in other countries make money to support their families. It's a win-win!
Our latest fair trade craft is a 3 Bags Full Finger Puppet Pouch. Little Miss has had this toy for about a month and loves it!

Recently I recieved a comment from Sue Berlove. I met her at a literacy conference last spring. Sue sells "3 Bags Full Finger Puppet Pouches" (fair trade early literacy resources). They are all hand knit by indigenous women in Bolivia. The pouches can be used to act out songs or books. Using puppets to tell stories is a great way to encourage narrative skills with your child...

Sue from Indigenous Crafts Bolivia contacted me earlier this year and asked if I would like to review her gorgeous 3 Bags Full Finger Puppet Pouch. From the minute I clicked on to her website I knew it would be a product that my kids would love and that I would be very happy to endorse. (So much so that I have I placed her banner in the side bar of my blog a number of months ago, supporting Sue’s worthwhile business endeavour.) ...

Indiginous Crafts From Bolivia is a company started by Sue Berlove when following her dream of connecting with an artisan group from a developing country, purchasing their crafts and selling them in Canada. The idea appealed to her because it seemed practical, tangible and achievable; a way to combine her enterprising skills and helping values. In 2004 she travelled to Bolivia with a small group of Canadian women where she was able to make those connections. She returned with suitcases full of the crafts she had purchased and launched my new business...
